Jan Nicolaas was born on September 18th, 1877. Jan Nicolaas 's father was Jan Hendrick Jeremias Lampe Croes and his mother was Martha Tromp . His paternal grandparents were Pieter Lampe Muller and Maria Croes. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Petrus, Franciscus Lourens, Rita Teolinda and Clara Elizabeth.
