Clara Elizabeth was born on July 19th, 1872. Clara Elizabeth's father was Jan Hendrick Jeremias Lampe Croes and her mother was Martha Tromp . Her paternal grandparents were Pieter Lampe Muller and Maria Croes. She had three brothers and a sister, named Petrus, Franciscus Lourens, Jan Nicolaas and Rita Teolinda. She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
