István was born on January 6th, 1668 in Fülek.1  István's father was Sándor Vécsey and his mother was Mária Szelényi.  His paternal grandparents were Sándor Vécsey and Mária Chapy. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Sándor, László, Erzsébet, Júlia and Zsuzsanna.  He died at the age of 45 in 1713 in Gyöngyös.2
