István was born on November 18th, 1882 in Budapest Óbuda and his baptism took place on November 28th, 1882 in Budapest Sarlósboldogasszony templom.1  István's father was Károly Schödl and his mother was Mária Hoffmann.  His paternal grandparents were János Schödl and Teréz Hazmann. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Károly, István, József, Ignácz, Ferenc, Rezső, Irma, Róza, Katalin and Teréz.  He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.  He died  due to tüdőgyulladás at the age of 57 on May 28th, 1940 in Budapest II. ker..2
