Mihály was born in February 1798 in Szombathely and his baptism took place there on February 20th, 1798.¹

Mihály's father was Mihály Asbóth and his mother was Julianna Szalay. He had a sister named Katalin.  He was the younger of the two children. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named János, János, József, Erzsébet, Anna, Katalin and Julianna.
