Mária's father was Károly Asbóth and her mother was Klára Nagy (Győri).  Her paternal grandparents were János Asbóth and Katalin Márczi. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Lajos, Lajos, László, Károly, Dezső, Julianna, Lídia and Vilma.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 78 on May 16th, 1935 in Budapest.²
