János was born on October 21st, 1884 in Pusztasomorja.¹

János' father was János Körtvélyesi and his mother was Rozália Egyed.  His paternal grandparents were József Körtvélesi and Erzsébet Tóth. He had three brothers and a sister, named Lajos, Dénes, Lajos and Rozália.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 65 on October 31st, 1949 in Budapest Korányi kórház.²
