Dallas, known as Dal, was born in 1941. Dal's father was Albert (Bert) Ernest Groom and his mother was Olive (Ollie) Mary Sullivan. His paternal grandparents were Charles William Groom and Caroline Beatrice Walker; his maternal grandparents were Henry (Harry/Trotter) Sullivan and Eunice Elizabeth Hacking. He had two sisters named Maureen and Carol.-
