Charles was born on August 30th, 1876 in "Runton Cottage", Victoria Rd, Chesterton, Cambridge, England.  Charles' father was George Groom and his mother was Kezia (Lisa) Plumb.  His paternal grandparents were George Groom and Eleanor Turner; his maternal grandparents were John Plumb and Sarah Challis. He had two brothers and a sister, named George, Dan and Eleanor.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Harry, Albert and Victoria.  He died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 65 on October 5th, 1941 in 5 Mabel St, Kingsgrove.
