Dorothea was born on December 8th, 1814.  Dorothea's father was Joseph Siman and her mother was Maria Sics.  Her paternal grandfather was Mathew Siman and her paternal grandmother is Dorothea Galik. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Mathew, Maria and Anna.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
