Romu  was born on June 9th, 1909 in Mizil and his christening took place there conducted by the priest.  His godmother was Victoria Ionescu Popovici.  Romu 's father was Vasile (Cutitarul) Ionescu and his mother was Aneta Ionescu. He had three brothers and three sisters, and also four siblings of unknown gender, named Ionel, Titi, Nicolae(Naica), Victoria, Elvira, Iosefina, ?, ?, ? and ?.  He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 86 in 1995 in Mizil.  The funeral took place in Mizil.  His body was entombed in Mizil.
