Catalina was born in 1949 in Bucuresti and her christening was conducted by priest .¹² Catalina's father was Ion (Nita) Vatasescu and her mother was Ana Constantinescu Vatasescu. Her maternal grandparents were Bucur Constantinescu and Virginia Ionescu (Constantinescu). She is an only child.
