Catalina was born on January 19th, 1985 in Bucuresti and her christening took place there conducted by priest . Catalina's father was Valentin Ionescu and her mother is Cozana Ionescu. Her maternal grandparents are Silviu Iacobescu and Victoria (Torica) Teodorescu Iacobescu. She has a sister named Alina. She is the younger of the two known children.
