Hassan was born on March 25th, 1919.  Hassan's father was Ahmad Zahab Hassan and his mother was Salmah Abdul Halim.  His paternal grandparents were Hassan (Datok Relon) Raden Suriadinata and Siti Sabariah.  He had six brothers and a sister, named Hanafi, Idris, Marzuki, Ismail, Asmawi, Othman and Ahmad.  He died at the age of 75 in 1994.
