Werner was born in 1190. Werner 's father was Heinrich OSTERTAG von WINDSTEIN and his mother was Sophie of LORRAINE. His maternal grandparents were Duke Matthaeus of Lorraine and Bertha von Swabia. He was an only child. He died at the age of 50 in 1240.
