    Hello Joseph,
    James Edward Jarvis married Harriett (Hattie) Crowell after the death of Isabella Henwood in 1866. The date of marriage was June4,1870.   At the time of their marriage he was 50yrs old and she was age 24 yrs. She was of the Wesleyan religion, the groom's place of birth was Horton but he was residing in Gaspereau. The groom's parents were John and Mary Jarvis; the bride was of Lockhartville. The brides parents were James and Margaret. James Crowell was born in 1819 in Great barrington,Shelburn,N.S. He died in1881(?).According to the Canadian census of 1881 James was a widow,aged 62yrs. and living in Lower Horton,Kings County. He was Irish and a Methodist in religion. His daughter,Rachel,age 19yrs was living with him.His father was Colin Crowell, born about 1796 in Great Barrington, Shelburn, N.S. Colin Crowell was the son of Paul Crowell and Eunice Wilson.
    In the Canadian census of 1891, The J.Edward Jarvis family was of Avonport and were baptists.  The household consisted
    of: Tom, 28yrs;  Arthur (my family), age 7 years; Maggie, 15 yrs; George, 11 yrs; Hattie, 13 yrs; Fred, 5 yrs; Charles, 20 yrs; Stephen, 41yrs; Nelson, 25 yrs; Harriette ,wife, 40yrs; Edward, head, 90 (sic)yrs-should be 70yrs; Sam, 23yrs, Alvia, 18yrs. The older children were from his first marriage (Tom, Stephen, Nelson, Sam).
    I've been in contact with a Tanya Morse of the Community and family History centre in Kentville,Kings County who provided me with some of this information. She referred to a Darres-McCormick Collection in her correspondence. Regards,

    My mother's first husband was Arthur James Jarvis born in Charlestown (Boston), Ma. in 1909. To my knowledge he is still alive and living
    in either California or Arizona. He is in his 90's. He is the son of Arthur Edward Jarvis born in Nova Scotia(Kentville?) in 1884(circa)who emigrated to the Boston area between 1903-07. Arthur Edw. married Margaret Lynch in  Cambridge/Chelsea, Ma. in 1907.Bridget was the daughter of James Lynch and Bridget Rourke. The family lived in Charlestown for a number of years. Eventually the family moved to Jamaica Plain(Boston) and lived at that location for at least 3 decades.Arthur James Jarvis married my mother in 1934 when my mother was a senior in high school. My oldest sister Dorothy Jean Jarvis was born in July, 1934.   She is now 69yrs. has 5 children and 10 grandchildren. She lives in the Dorchester section of Boston. Arthur Edward Jarvis was the son of Harriette(Hattie)Crowell and Edward James Jarvis. I believe Hattie's family was from Hantsport.   Arthur James had several brothers and isters- Mildred, Margaret, Leo, Mary, etc. all now deceased. I believe that your research has connected my sister's Jarvis' with your family. Let me know if I can be of assistance.
