Isobel was born on March 2nd, 1836.  Isobel's father was Donald Polson and her mother was Barbara  MacLeod.  Her paternal grandparents were Alexander  Polson and Catherine  Matheson; her maternal grandparents were George MacLeod and Janet Bannerman. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Alexander, George, Peter, William, Janet and Barbara.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.
