Donald Polson

Donald was born on November 5th, 1813. Donald's father was Alexander Polson and his mother was Catherine Matheson. His maternal grandparents were Alexander Matheson and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and a sister, named Hugh, John, William and Ann. He was the youngest of the five children.

  note: Passenger list of 'Prince of Wales' 1815, bound for York Fort included Alexander Polson Wheelwright (aged 34) and wife Catherine Mathewson (Matherson? assumed) (aged 30) and children Hugh 10, John 5, Donald 1, Ann 7. This casts some doubt on the marriage of Donald and Barbara MacLeod . However in a 1851 census Donald and Janet Mackay had a Nephew born in N America living with them so it is not possible Donald came home to marry in 1833. There are no other possibilities in the IGI and the other three all survived to after 1855. This Donald did not and hence there is no death certificate to confirm parentage.
