Mary Thornton

Mary was born in 1860 in Barnoldswick, Yorkshire, England.¹ Mary's father was James Thornton and her mother was Ellen Hartley. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Thornton and Agnes (Thornton). She had four brothers and two sisters, named James, Dick, Alfred, Charles, Emma and Laviena. She was the oldest of the seven children.
