Willie was born on January 16th, 1909 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.  Willie's father was John Petyt and his mother was Sarah Argent.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Lupton Petty and Elizabeth Keighley; his maternal grandparents were James Argent and Eliza E Smith.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named James T, George, Thomas Lupton, Fred, Norman, Eliza Elizabeth, Edith, Ida and Mary Jane.  He was the nineth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 83 in February 1992 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England.
