James Newis

James was born on May 3rd, 1838 in Aldfield, Ripon, Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place on May 6th, 1838.¹ James' father was William Newis and his mother was Ursula Kitson. His paternal grandfather was James Newis. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas, William Francis, Jospeh, Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Margaret A. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
