Helen was born in 1786.  Helen's father was Thomas Tyrie and her mother was Margaret Tuelloch. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, Toby?, John Tyrie, Margaret, Eliza, Barbara, Jean, Isobella, Jacoba and Schobblia ?.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.
