James was born in 1855 in Methlick.  James' father was George Bird and his mother was Helen Alexander.  He was an only child.  He died of an unknown cause, Bed Sores 1 Month, at the age of 61 on November 1st, 1916 in Temp Parish Hosp. Rosemount Aberdeen.
