Edward Robert, known as Bertie, was born in 1902 in Ireland. Bertie's father was William George Stuart and his mother was May Jane Hawkins. His paternal grandparents were Charles James Stuart and Annie Miller; his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Sam, Charles, Charles James, Hennie ( Bill), Alexander Hawkins, Cissie, Carrie, May, Georgina Margaeret, Florrie and Violet Betress. He was the third youngest of the twelve children. He died from cancer at the age of 78 in 1980 in New Ross, Kilkenny, Ireland.
