    Henry Sanderson, Engineering Surveyor by occupation was born on 11thJanuary 1798 in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England and baptised 2ndMarch that year. He married Mary Ann Ives of Brodsworth by licence on 28thJuly 1818, and from this marriage six children were born, Henry Thellusson in 1821, William in 1822, Charles in 1823, Edmund in 1825, Alexander in 1826 and Mary Ann in 1829. Mary Ann Ives born about 1797, died reasonably early in the marriage, on 13thMay 1830 and was buried in the Brodsworth Churchyard. Henry married again. This time to Elizabeth Hibbard in 1831 and from this union another eleven children were born, six of who died at birth. The third child of this marriage, John Sanderson is important to us because of the fact that he married into our Sheather family, but the exact year of John’s birth is in question as it may have been either of 1834 or 1836. Henry died 2ndFebruary 1849 in Milton Park, (the home of the Fitzwilliam family) Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England and was buried in Marholm Churchyard, Northamptonshire, England on 8thFebruary. Details of the death of Elizabeth Hibbard are not yet known. She was still living in 1855, when the three Sanderson brothers arrived in Australia

    Note of interest…… This photograph is of Henry Sanderson, who was the son of William and Mary Sanderson nee Jowett. It was his mother Mary who had the responsibility of raising Lord Milton, son of the Earl and Countess Fitzwilliam. Henry was later employed as the Engineering Surveyor to Lord Fitzwilliam. It’s obvious that Henry and Lord Fitzwilliam would have known each other very well. Henry died early in life in his 52nd year
