Mary was born in 1801 in Kirkby Malzeard, West Riding of Yorkshire, England..  Mary's father is Timothy Robinson and her mother is Alice Downes.  Her maternal grandfather was John Downes and her maternal grandmother is Alice Moon. She has a brother and four sisters, named John, Anne, Alice, Elizabeth and Hannah.  She is the second oldest of the six children.
