    She was born on 27 Oct 1876 at Alexander Cresc in Dewsbury. Her mother died in1883 when she was only six. She then went to live with her uncle George at Carleton Grange in Batley. Her grandmother now widowed also lived there. Census 1891 she was living with her garndmother and uncle George at Oxford Rd Dewsbury George left her a life interest in Joseph Newsome and sons. 7th Sept. 1898 - Marriage Certificate, S. Joseph Newsome/ manufacturer ArthurHobson / 25/ Batch / Engineer / Bridlington Quay / John S Hobson / Butcher Eileen born 1.4.1900 On 11.3.1910 she eloped with Arthur Harker their next door neighbour and went to America.. Divorced Feb 1913 (A.Hobson remarried 8.10.1913) Remarried to Arthur Norison Harker Nov 1916 in an American Registry Office with British Consul present Kate paid a visit to England on the death of her uncle H.C.Newsome on 23.6.1917 and then returned to live here and Eileen saw her mother again in Dec 1917. Rob Harker was born 18.3.1918. There was agreat deel of animosity in the family over Eileen's care. She inherited a life interest in Joseph Newsome Ltd from her uncle George Newsome. She enjoyed a very considerable income from the woolen mill. The capital was entailed equally to her two children but what she got as income was hers to leave as she pleased. Arthur Harker pursuaded Kate to alter her will to the advantage of her son Rob if Eileen did not go and live with her. Percy Sanderson who was a director and trustee theatened to resign if Kate made such a will. There was considerable animosity and strife. She was very fond of the good life and used to spend long periods in Monte Carlo She died of schirrosis of the liver in 28.5.1924.
