Mary Ann was born on June 12th, 1796 in YORK North Yorkshire England.  Mary Ann's father was William Land and her mother was Julia Scott.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Land and Elizabeth Taylor. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Richard, George, John, John, Elizabeth, Ann and Julia.  She is the second oldest of the nine children.
