Ann Jessica Pamela Bruce Hughes-Chamberlain

Ann Jessica Pamela Bruce was born on February 14th, 1987. Ann Jessica Pamela Bruce's father is John Federick Hyde Federick Hyde Hughes-Chamberlain and her mother is Charlotte Francis Clare Reinhildt Bruce . Her paternal grandfather was Aylmer Manners Hughes-Chamberlain and her paternal grandmother is Ann Maud Mountford Forsyth. She has two brothers named Tom and Will. She is the oldest of the three children.

General Notes
- Having always painted from photographs, Anna Hughes-Chamberlain has come to realise that photography itself has become a subject for her painting, rather than just an aid. In our society the eye of the camera often subverts our own way of seeing and it is a common preconception that photographs are wholly objective. This is the opinion that the artist is trying to confront and explore with her work; paintings of crowds entirely constructed and composed from found images. She is questioning the concept of visual truth by exploring how an image-maker has the vital power to mislead. Making images of faceless crowds helps her demonstrate this; she wants the viewer to almost feel voyeuristic. It can be said that Anna is using the photographic image as a means of justifying painting, but in doing so is also trying to ask important questions about how our world is represented.
