    1.4.1900 birth certif. West Sculcoates, Hull Eileen Chambers./ f. Arthur Hobson, draughtsman at 18 Peason Av Beverly R/ m. Catherine Hobson (Newsome) She was brought up and lived with her parents until her mother left them when she was 10yrs. She stayed with her father until she went away to school first at Highcliff in Scarborough and later in Pateley Bridge. During these years her aunt Edith and Percy Sanderson were involved in her care. Her father remarried to Gertrude Massey and she did not get on with her. She really did not want to go to live with her mother when she returned. There was a great deal of animosity. Her mother altered her will leaving 1/4 to her and 3/4 to her son by her second marriage. Even so she did spend some time with her mother and was in Montecarlo with her. Aunt Edith wanted to adopt her but this did not happen. Later on she and Aunt Edie became very close and Eileen devoted a lot of time to her, treating her as a mother.They took her on a world cruise in 1932. She was not favoured in her will. When she left school she went to Atholl Cresc Domestic Science School in Edinburgh. At about this time she saw a lot of Jack the son of Percy Sanderson - anxious times with Jack flying on the Western Front. After the war they married. The children were born here. When WW2 started Jack volunteered and was commissioned in the RAF. Eileen went to live in Oswoldkirk in N Yorks. They all came back to Holly Lodge. They both wanted to move to Scarborough and bought Knox House, Deepdale. This had a beautiful garden and they were very happy there. When Jack died aged 60 she went to live in a large flat in Fulford Rd. She became very friendly with Bevan Gamble a house master at Bramcote School. He moved into the flat above and they spent most of the time together. She died after a short illness at her daughter Doreen's House in York.
