    MR. C. S. FORSYTH PASSES.
    BOROUGH OFFICIAL.
    Mr. Charles S. Forsyth. whose death took place at his residence. 49 Castle Street, Ballymena, last week. had been general foreman for the past fifteen years to the Urban and Borough Councils. in which capacity he proved a highly capable and courteous official. He had previously been connected with the Estate Oftlce, and had also engaged in private civil engineering practice.
    Mr. Forsyth belonged to the Syden¬ham district of Belfast, and received his education at Campbell College and Queen's University. He had been 23 years in Ballymena. Earlier in life he was a keen exponent of sport and captained the Queen's cricket and hockey teams, and. the Campbell cricket team. He also played cricket for Sydenham and Ballyrnena, and Rugby for Malone. In the season 1908 he compiled a record score of 225 runs for Sydenham against Wood¬vale in the final of the Junior Cup. and was captain of the Queen's hockey team which won the Irish Senior Cup in the following season. In the greater game -of life. as in sport. he showed the same worthy effort, conscientiousness and efficiency. and his genial disposition gained him many friends.
    In his duties for the Borough Councii he also undertook, as super¬intendent of the Fire Brigade before the war. the training of the A.F.S .. and here. too, he rendered valuable service. He was highly esteemed in his work alike by his employers and those under him, and his passing is greatly regretted. He had been in ill-health since September, and in 'recent weeks had spent some time in the Cottage Hospital, Ballymena. and the Royal Victoria Hospital. Belfast. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
    Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Messrs. Ian and James For¬syth. and three daughters, Mrs. C. D. Land. Misses Ruth and Rona Forsyth, to whom deep sympathy is extended.
    The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon to Ballymena Cemetery, and was largely attended. amongst those present being members and officia:s of the Borough Council. Rev. W. N. C. Barr, B.A., officiated. and the chief mourners were-Messrs. 1. C. S. and J. W. S. Forsyth (sons); Lieut.-Col. J. S. Forsyth and Mr. A. Forsyth (brothers); Major W. R. White and Mr. B. Stuart (brothers¬in-law); Mr. C. D. Land (son-in-Iaw):

    E regret to record the death of Mr. Charles S. Forsyth. general foreman of the surveyor's department of the Ballymena Borough Council. which occurred at his residence. 49. Castle Street.
    The late Mr. ForsYth. whose .father was a railway engineer, was born in Galway 59 years ago. His father's job took hint to many parts of the country, I so the early years of his life were

    spent in various parts of Irelanp. Educated at Campbell College, he was acknowledged as one of the best cricketers the College ever produced.
    While playing for Sydenham against Wood vale in the Junior Cup final In 1908 he established a batting record I for an innings in junior cricket.' While continuing his studies at Queen's, he represented the University at both cricket and hockey.
