Dirk was born on August 7th, 1821.  Dirk's father was Cornelis Eindhoven and his mother was Barbara Ockhuisen Eindhoven.  His paternal grandparents were Teunis Cornelis Eindhoven and Geertruida Bruin Eindhoven; his maternal grandparents were Jan Ockhuijsen and Antje  Gerbrans Ockhuijsen. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Dirk, Geesje and Hendrica.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
