Amelia's father was John Mrvan and her mother was Marcella Mendell.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mrvan and Mary Uhrik; her maternal grandparents were John (Mendelova) Mendell and Mary Grusman.  She is the nineth of eleven children.  She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Luke, Ernie, Edward, Joe, Mary, Anna, Helen, Irene and Margaret.
