Thomas was born in 1836 in Kilve Somerset and was baptised there on December 18th, 1836.1   Thomas' father was Thomas  Webb and his mother was Mary Crane.  His paternal grandparents were William  Webbe and Susanna  Piles; his maternal grandparents were Isaac Crane and Joan Rowe.  He was the eighth of ten children.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named John , William, George , Barnett, Charles, Betsey, Dorah, Laura  and Mary.
