Mary was born in 1835 in Kilve Somerset and was baptised there on March 22nd, 1835.1   Mary's father was Thomas  Webb and her mother was Mary Crane.  Her paternal grandparents were William  Webbe and Susanna  Piles; her maternal grandparents were Isaac Crane and Joan Rowe.  She was the seventh of ten children.  She had six brothers and three sisters, named John , William, George , Thomas, Barnett, Charles, Betsey, Dorah and Laura .
