James was born in 1815 in Trevethin.1   James' father was William Stewart and his mother was Mary Harries.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Stuart and Margaret Read.  He was the fourth of five children.  He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Thomas , William and Maria.
