Clifford was born on September 7th, 1919.  Clifford's father was Caiaphas  Charles Stewart and his mother was Blodwen Mary Jones.  His paternal grandparents were William Stewart and Ada Davies; his maternal grandparents were Thomas  Jones and Sarah Ann Harrris.  He was the oldest of five children.  He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas , Ada, Annie and Margaret (Peg).
