John was born in 1750 in Luxborough and was baptised there on February 2nd, 1750.1   John's father was Thomas Orchard and his mother was Mary Sully.  His paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were James Sully and Mary Hill.  He was the eighth of nine children.  He had three brothers and five sisters, named William , Thomas, William, Betty, Joan, Ann, Jane  and Christian .
