Kate was born in 1863 in Stogursey Somerset.1   Kate's father was John Harris and her mother was Laura  Webb.  Her paternal grandparents were William Harris and Martha Burnett,Burnet; her maternal grandparents were Thomas  Webb and Mary Crane.  She was the fourth of ten children.  She had six brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Frank, Barnett, John, Thomas , John, Elizabeth, Emily and Alice .
