Matilda was born in 1835 in Kington SM and was baptised on December 28th, 1835 in Kington St. Michael.1   Matilda's father was Simon Granger and her mother was Margaret Simpson.  Her paternal grandparents were Ann Young and Ann Little; her maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  She was the youngest of five children.  She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Mary, Margaret and Penninah.
