Mary was born in 1830 in Kington St. Michael and was baptised on October 17th, 1830 in Kington S M Wilts.1   Mary's father was Simon Granger and her mother was Margaret Simpson.  Her paternal grandparents were Ann Young and Ann Little; her maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  She was the second of five children.  She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Margaret, Penninah and Matilda.
