Margaret was born in 1831 in Kington S M Wilts.1   Margaret's father was Simon Granger and her mother was Margaret Simpson.  Her paternal grandparents were Ann Young and Ann Little; her maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  She was the third of five children.  She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Mary, Penninah and Matilda.
