Elizabeth was born in 1904 in Pontypridd.  Elizabeth's father was William  Granger and her mother was Annie Lucas.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Granger and Ann Vines; her maternal grandparents were Edwin  Cary Lucas and Jane Weekes.  She was the youngest of five children.  She had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Anne, Jenny and Florence .  She died at the age of 81 in 1985.
