Thomas was born in 1742 in Luxborough and was baptised there on July 31st, 1742.1   Thomas' father was Henry Coles and his mother was Mary.  His paternal grandparents were John Coles and Joan Ridler.  He was the second of four children.  He had two brothers and a sister, named George, Henry and Christian.
