Fanny was born in 1778.  Fanny's father was George Coles and her mother was Joan Orchard.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Coles and Mary; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Orchard and Mary Sully.  She was the sixth of seven children.  She had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, John, James, Jane  and Mary.
