John was born about May 1890 in Tanfield, Durham, England.1   John's father was George Mosley and his mother was Sarah Jane Miller.  His paternal grandfather was NK Mosley and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Edward, Margaret, Mary, Sarah and Ann.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven known children.
