John was born on January 19th, 1695 in Quethiock, Cornwall.1   John's father was William Doney and his mother was Julian Toms. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, William, George, Christian, Stephen, Nathan, Richard, Margaret, Philippa, Mary and Ann.  He was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 1 on May 1st, 1696 in Quethiock, Cornwall.1
