Rebecca was born about 1842 in Ugglebarnby, Yorkshire.1   Rebecca's father was Joseph Readman and her mother was Anne.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Robert, John, Mary and Margret.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
