  • [Davis9.FTW] 1825 - Pigot & Co's New Commercial Directory of Scotland for 1825-6 - Old Town, Girvan - James McTaggart, grocer and dealer in sundries. 1837 - Pigot & Co's Directory of Ayrshire for Girvan lists McTaggert James, Old Street under "Cart & Wheel Wrights" - and also under "Shopkeepers & Dealers in Sundries". 1841 Census - Living in Old Street, Girvan with his wife Mary and grown daughters Marion and Grizel. Age 70(-74). Occupation pretty illegible. Not born in Ayrshire.
