Dorothea was born on July 30th, 1678.  Dorothea's father was Giles Higson and her mother was Anna Farneworth.  Her paternal grandfather was George Higson and her paternal grandmother is <Unknown>.  She had eight brothers and six sisters, named George, Jacob, Richard, Peter, Giles, Jacobi, Richard, John, Priscilla, Margareta, Martha, Margareta, Alice and Eleanor.  She was the fifth oldest of the fifteen children.
